Waffle Ingredients

  • All Purpose Flour
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt
  • Eggs
  • Extra Light Olive Oil
  • Milk

Waffle Recipe Preparation Tips

Tip 1

  • Mix dry ingredients thoroughly with spoon or whisk.
  • This waffle batter can be mixed in a bowl or in the blender.
  • Add the wet ingredients: eggs, oil, and milk. Mix thoroughly with a whisk.

Tip 2

  • Don’t over mix waffle batter because over mixing can toughen the waffles.
  • Mixing with a whisk helps to get the lumps out.
  • Pour a bit of batter onto each square of the waffle iron or waffle maker.
  • Don’t put too much waffle batter on each square because the batter spreads when the lid is closed, and after closing it may leak out of the sides of the waffle iron or waffle maker.

Tip 3

  • If making waffles for the first time, I would set the temperature to the middle setting. Then on the next batch you can adjust the dial up or down for desired texture. Lower for: soft on outside and inside, or higher for: crisp on outside and soft and fluffy on inside.
  • Use two forks to move waffles from waffle maker to plate.
  • Top with your favorite toppings like: maple syrup, fresh fruit, ice cream, whipped cream, gravy etc… Tell us your favorite toppings in the comments below.

Substitutes

  • All Purpose Flour: whole wheat flour can be substituted for the all purpose flour in this waffle recipe.
  • Lactose-Free: this recipe can be made lactose free by substituting the milk for lactose free milk.
  • Olive Oil: vegetable oil is a great substitute for extra light olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil can also be used, but it will give a stronger flavor.
  • Milk: substituting the milk in the waffle batter with buttermilk tastes just as delicious.
